Ashford E-Spinner 3 Demo Spin / How I Spin Consistent Singles

This is a demo of me spinning on my new Ashford E-Spinner 3. I am an entirely self taught spinner and give some useful tips! If you want the best of the best when it comes to electric spinning wheels. I strongly recommend this wheel as an investment, or if you are like me and like to spin in different places. It is pure luxury. Ashford has stolen my heart with this wheel and it has me blown away!

I bought my Ashford e spinner last week. I am disabled and sometimes I am unable to treadle on my treasured Majacraft wheel. So far I have caught up with lots of plying I have been putting off because I don't particularly like plying!! At present I am spinning sock yarn. Singles at 60 wpi to chain ply. I was worried this little machine wouldn't cope with such fine yarn, which is my norm, and my very slow drafting (I find slow drafting much more relaxing) but it is brilliant. One thing I have found is to put the foot pedal on my lap and turn on and off with my hand which I find much easier than trying to find it on the floor! If my dog lies on it (she always sleeps by my feet) she may turn the wheel on or off at inopportune moments!! Also, being used to treadling I found I was turning it on and off all the time as I was 'treadling' whilst spinning!!

Thanks for posting this. I am trying to choose an e-spinner right now, as last week I went to a spinning workshop day and could only spins for a couple of hours because of arthritis in my knees. Time to change my wheel.

You spin the way I do. I find it makes a much more consistent yarn when I let the smallest amount of twist into the fiber supply.

Love this video, very helpful, I’m a new spinner, was undecided whether to get an e wheel or manual because I was concerned about spinning consistently, your “up close” portion-very helpful, gonna go with e wheel too to focus on drafting and consistency first

Please help. I have the AshFord 3 espinner. When I ply 2 bobbins together the twist is good, but winding on my 3rd bobbin is very loose. I can I avoid this please. Thank you. Do you have a demo?

Is this merino? If it is, to get elasticity in the yarn, watch master spinner/knitter Margaret Stove spinning merino for lace. Shes on youtube as well.
