Senator Harkin at 2014 NCAF Legislative Conference

In his 28th appearance at NCAF's annual Legislative Conference, Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) reflects on his time spent as a champion for Community Action and reaffirms his commitment to protect CSBG, LIHEAP and other programs at the heart of our social safety net during his remaining time in the Senate.

Other topics include LBJ's Great Society and his proposed minimum wage bill. Declaring himself as "your Senator," Harkin concludes that he might be retiring from the Senate, but he is not retiring from the fight for economic and social justice.
