An excellent explanation of very common idioms. I do, however, have one suggestion to further clarify Question 9. The phrase " make up" could possibly be misinterpreted to mean "to create." An alternate phrasing might read "To make up after a quarrel."

#1 ''Burning the candle at both ends''. Although I chose the answer ''Overwork yourself'' I have always thought of it more about going to bed late and then getting up early, but not nesessarily because you are working.
#3 ''Throw in the towel'' .. to give up .. comes from boxing where your coach will literally throw a towel into the ring if you are losing badly to stop the fight.
#4 Actually it's ''DON'T celebrate too early''.
#8 Going back to #1 THIS is the expression that I always thought means working late into the night.
#9 Of course you mean ''to make up AFTER a quarrel''.

Number 9 is in error: "To bury the hatchet" means "make peace" or "end a quarrel or conflict and become friendly." Yours is wrong or at least ambiguous in meaning. I recommend you correct it.
