I came home from Rome about two weeks ago. This brought me back to the Sistine Chapel in a heartbeat! Absolutely wonderful!

This album contains the very original version of Allegri's Miserere, not the transcript Mozart did in 1770.

The choir has not sung this for nearly 141 years, so it is a unique and rare occasion to hear this masterpiece.

Strictly speaking this is not the first ever studio recording by a choir in the Sistine Chapel, but only the first by the Chapel Choir. At the end of May - beginning of June 1980 the professional William Byrd Choir from London spent 3 days recording Palestrina's Missae Papae Marcelli and other music (in a liturgical context) in the Sistine Chapel. The conductor was Gavin Turner and the recording producer Hugh Keyte. The recording was later broadcast by the BBC in the UK on 31 December 1984, and released as a commercial CD (BBC CD 572) in 1985.

Ya quiero escucharlo...
Qué mundo maravilloso este en el que vivimos. Poder escuchar al Coro de la Capilla Sixitina. ¿Quién la historia ha tenido esa posibilidad?
Muchas gracias a quienes lo han hecho posible.

This music was composed for the traditional Latin Mass not the concert hall.
