Balenciaga 53rd Couture Collection

“This couture collection is a tribute to subculture dress codes as important influences of my fashion vocabulary. I chose four permanent components of Cristóbal Balenciaga’s last two decades of collections and applied them on my design aesthetic in order to create a bridge between Balenciaga’s signature elegance and silhouette and my own personal style.” - Demna

At the salons de Couture located at 10 avenue George V in Paris, Balenciaga presented its 53rd Couture Collection today. 39 looks including everyday wardrobe garments, a variety of upcycled and reconstructed pieces and gowns were introduced.

the sculptural shoulders & sleeves are very Cristobal, but all in modern fabrics. most wont get it, but I think it's a very good couture show

Great collection! I always love how Demna's references can be easily recognized and not overtly fantasy. The details and time spent crafting each look are what make the piece live beyond the reference. Excited to see the detail shots and closer look into some of the pieces like the belt gown, denim shark dress, rock band t-shirts.
