For those who don't know:
It's because the handle of the grenade has a little lever in which the grenade won't explode until 5 seconds after it is released
The pin just locks it in place

so for who dont know how it really work: the grenade have time fuse and average grenade have 3 second fuse so when you pull the pin it wont go off but when you release the second pin the long big pin on the side the fuse will start to go off in 3 second so remember to throw it far

For those who are curious. The pin is what allows the secondary pin (the bit that flew off after he tore off the silver ring) to release, igniting a spark within the grenade. Sk what happens if you don't let the second pin fly off?
As I've come to understand, It will not prime, and will not explode. Once thrown, the pin will pop off, and explode as usual.

For people who wonder what happens if you pull the pin of the grenade .

There is a safety mechanism like a clutch on the side as a long as you hold it it won't explode after pulling the pin.
