I'm LOVING how Eliza is slowly bonding with Blake's daughter. 💜

I was worried I wouldn't like it without the Duke, but was pleasantly surprised by DI Blake. I get the sense that he won't try to change Eliza or want her to change so she can fit into his life. I think giving her the forensic science book as well as the scenes with his daughter made me hopeful that he won't want her to conform to societal standards.

The three best characters (Moses, William, and Nash) are gone, and so is the sizzle. She's not making her own way, she's just latching onto the new inspector, which makes no sense since they made a big deal about their positions being incompatible with a relationship in seasons 1-4. Let them be friends - there's no chemistry in the match they're trying to make.

Finished Season 5 and have to admit I struggled through it.
It felt like a repeat of Miss Scarlet and the Duke with new characters assuming the roles of the actors who left. Miss Scarlett seems to have regressed into this needy, insecure young woman desperately seeking the approval of the men around her. She flirts, begs and bargains to get on cases with the new Inspector. And now he might become her love interest? Why? It gives the feel of a soap opera vs a drama if that becomes a storyline. I hope the show goes well, but I don't think I'll be a viewer if there is a Season 6. I will always be a fan of PBS Masterpiece shows!

I hope season 6 will come out . And I cannot wait until we see more with Eliza and Blake more together. It looks like he really starting to have deep feelings for Eliza.
