Denmark fought in both Afghanistan and Iraq for the US spending billions and losing multiple lives, this is a slap in the face for their families and their country.

Denmark spend billions each year into the society of Greenland. If the US want to take it, the US taxpayer has to cover this. Besides, if Greenland is strategic important to protect the US, they can expand the allready existing bases they got there, without trouble. What Trump and his allies want in taking over Greenland is the minerals and natural resources that come with the melting ice.

It all boils down to this. Denmark is a militarily weak vassal of USA (and so is most EU countries except France and Germany). USA sees extremely valuable land with untapped potential that this weak vassal has and tries to take it from vassal without much conflict. Russia has even more valuable lands that are poorly developed, maintained but would USA dare to threaten Russia? No way.. it's typical bully versus weak guy situation. Bullies always pick on easy targets
