How to upgrade your BBC Micro SD Card ROM

I was having a little trouble getting things to work so I decided to upgrade the SD Card ROM on my BBC Micro. Unfortunately there was a small hiccup, but it was resolved and its all up to date now!

Following on from your earlier vid I took the plunge and ordered a PSU capacitor kit and the SD card user-port board.

They are both 8k SRAM chips, so I would say it's a Sideways Rom board using SRAM chips so they are emulating EEPROMS, so you can load an image from disk and then erase it and add a different image. The fly lead I would say fits into the Chip Enable (CE) of the adjacent empty ROM socket to give you two banks of 8k. The Switch I think is for reading and writing depending on it's position.

Still have Daredevil Tennis on tape!! really need to recap my Beeb and get the SD mod. Can you copy from tapes to SD or would I have to acquire the roms via some other method? I have a lot of old games such as Twin Kingdom Valley, Trafalgar, DareDevil Dennis, Castle Quest etc that I would like to pop on there ;)

Can you give a link to where I can buy your EPROM programmer? My old Willem EPROM programmer needs a parallel port and I dont have one any more.

LC Electronics is just a Chinese manufacturer of these generic/Arduino SD breakout boards.

if mmfs works my SMART-spi rom will also works, if not you do something wrong, smart-spi is written for bbc b, not for master futher must know how bbc computer works
*dmmc makes the rom work if not in last slot. but you can play some games with mmfs not all :) therefor you need the smart-spi :)
