Georgia On My Mind Ray Charles

Ray Charles Robinson (Albany, 23 settembre 1930 – Beverly Hills, 10 giugno 2004) è stato un cantautore e pianista statunitense, considerato uno dei pionieri della musica soul.

Perse completamente la vista all'età di sei anni, forse a causa di un glaucoma. Seppe coniugare sonorità diverse, dal rhythm and blues alla musica country, dal vocal jazz al piano blues fino al soul blues.

Il brano Georgia on My Mind è stato il suo maggior successo. Nel 1990 partecipò, classificandosi al secondo posto, al Festival di Sanremo dove interpretò in con Toto Cutugno la canzone Gli amori. Il suo ultimo contributo alla musica è stato la produzione di un disco di duetti con B.B. King, Elton John, Norah Jones e Johnny Mathis. The Genius - come era stato soprannominato per il suo grande talento artistico, nel 1980 apparve nel film The Blues Brothers.Frank Sinatra lo chiamò "l'unico vero genio nel nostro campo".

Nel 2004, Rolling Stone Magazine lo nominò 10º tra i 100 più grandi artisti di tutti i tempi e 2º nella classifica del 2008 dei 100 più grandi cantanti di sempre.

Ray Charles Robinson (Albany, September 23, 1930 – Beverly Hills, June 10, 2004) was an American singer-songwriter and pianist, considered one of the pioneers of soul music.

He completely lost his sight at the age of six, perhaps due to glaucoma. He was able to combine different sounds, from rhythm and blues to country music, from vocal jazz to piano blues and soul blues.

The song Georgia on My Mind was his biggest hit. In 1990 he participated, finishing in second place, at the Sanremo Festival where he performed the song Gli amori together with Toto Cutugno. His latest contribution to music was the production of a duet album with B.B. King, Elton John, Norah Jones and Johnny Mathis. The Genius - as he was nicknamed for his great artistic talent, appeared in the 1980 film The Blues Brothers. Frank Sinatra called him "the only true genius in our field".

In 2004, Rolling Stone Magazine named him 10th among the 100 greatest artists of all time and 2nd in its 2008 list of the 100 greatest singers of all time.

The aforementioned song Georgia on My Mind - along with other tunes such as I Can't Stop Loving You, Unchain My Heart, Hit the Road Jack - earned him thirteen Grammys.
