Bedrock Rapid Carnage- Don't Go Left! Bad Swim in the Grand Canyon Bedrock Rapid

preview_player
Показать описание
Of the many rapids on the Colorado through the Grand Canyon, Bedrock Rapid is to be taken very seriously. The move is quite simple. Get Right. At all costs run down the shore line on the right and stay right into the right channel... did I mention stay right? ....Easy for me to say as a passenger...

Follow along here for a POV run of the very dangerous and unforgiving left side of Bedrock rapid.

Props for keeping the comment section open on this! 😂 most carnage videos people turn em off but I LOVE your "yep" replies to all the negative comments

I like how the person in the front of the boat was still lounging when it was very clear some bad shit was about to happen.

Watched a few videos on this river. Why are these kinds of boats used rather than the types of rafts seen on others?

This rapid scares me as much as Lava. I enter as far right as possible, just outside the guard rocks, and use an extreme ferry angle or reverse ferry and pull hard. Paddlers in the front of the boat are a desired addition. The water is moving faster in the middle of the river, swinging the bow downstream, making it very hard to maintain a proper ferry angle. In March 2021, during the low water event, a Sotar, also rented from Pro, was ripped so badly on the prow of Bedrock that they rolled up the boat and disassembled the frame and put it on other boats. Total respect for this one!! The irony is that this rapid either seems trivial if you stay on the right, or devastating if sucked left into the prow or the subsequent keeper eddy, and then there is the slide that often pins people against the main mass of the main rock down lower. Just to add to the issue, the left side can not be scouted from the right bank, the usual scout point.

That right side run was in the bag, seem like you just quit pulling on the oars. One flash flood, even a small one and the right side run is going to fill in and be gone and everyone will be going left in the future.

This rapid is not hard. Just start in the middle and move to the right with momentum. Super easy. Watching every carnage video is the same, they start right and do nothing because the rocks on the right side prevent any further movement…..then they are slung left by the current…

that was really bad. but you have to admit yall did terrible lining up to go left. I mean it looks as though your aiming at the rock

lol you didnt go left, you hit the massive boulder and got wrapped/flipped, then swam left...that is worst case scenario. you are only alive because you did not also get wrapped/trapped against the boulder. very lucky.

Why couldn’t you keep the camera above the water? We missed all the good stuff.

Watching these people with zero rowing skills barely on the oars upon the approach. What do you expect?
