Second Amendment (Introductory Level)

In this session, students will engage in a conversation on the #SecondAmendment, and its protection of the right to keep and bear arms. This exchange introduces students to different viewpoints and debates surrounding the Second Amendment by using the National Constitution Center’s Interactive Constitution. Students will analyze the Second Amendment’s text and history, how the Second Amendment shaped its core protections, and how the #SupremeCourt has interpreted it over time. Through these discussions, students will build understanding of the resources and methods used by Supreme Court justices and constitutional scholars when analyzing and forming opinions this provision. Students will identify key points of agreement and disagreement from essays by #constitutional scholars, be able to trace the historic development of the Second Amendment, and use evidence from the readings to explore modern interpretation of the Second Amendment.

1. “Well Regulated” = Well Equipped/ Proper working order.
2. The Militia = You
3. The People = Militia = You
4. to Keep = in possession
5. To keep and bear arms = in possession and hold your firearms.
6. Shall not be Infringed = Don’t touch my gun rights.

FUN FACT: The definition of “Well Regulated” in the context 1700s meant that the people (Militia) needed to be not only armed but well supplied and trained with their personal firearms in case of any threat of a tyrannical government. You can’t be well equipped and well trained if Democrats and RINOs infringe on your rights to own.

It goes without saying that "we the people" are already underarmed and outgunned when it comes to the prospects of battling any military today, foreign or domestic. No citizen militia, regardless of how well supervised or armed with the weapons we are allowed to have, will ever be capable of going up against any professional army. Period. It took the Afghans 20 years to kick our military out. Those people are far tougher, better trained in guerrilla warfare and more dedicated to their cause than any American will ever be. The second amendment is all but defunct.

A well regulated militia is one which has a chain of command and training. In other words it is not a mob.

The only people regulated in the school about speech are teachers and staff just like police are regulated while they’re at work because they work for the government and therefore they are a government Agent, speaking on behalf of the federal government or state government. In that context, their speech can be regulated to a certain extent they are not legally allowed to voice, their political opinions, or their religious opinions, or their sexual orientation opinions, yet it keeps happening.

Did the founders talk about fear of standing armies when they debated 2A? Why didn’t it say the right of the people to form militias shall not be infringed?

The second amendment makes two statements. What about the sovereignty of the state to have a well regulated militia to defend itself from the federal government, and The second part the right of the people to keep, and bear arms shall not be infringed the right of the people

Around 11:46 you stated as a farmer you would stand up and fight then when it was over you gave your guns back what you fail to understand is the guns they used where there personal firearms to begin with then as a part of the militia act 1792 you had to bring your own firearm a min of 20 rounds of ammo and powder to militia muster so it was your gun you were brining and your gun you were taking home!

Remember it was the state government that made the law to take her gun rights in the first place so they could control her people after being freed by the Civil war. Just like now it is the government that is restricting our rights in the name of safety, but the safety of who, the government or the people? To control and enslave the people you must first disarm them just like the British tried to do, so is history repeating itself?
