Third year of my paint journey. Started with my own vehicles in a tiny barn garage. Bought a house with a 47 foot long garage that was previously an appliance repair business. Perfect for my part-time seven days a week sideline. Love the work and still reading and watching videos like yours every evening to see if I can pick up more tips. Mostly trying to be more efficient now as the once confusing basics have become routine with practice. Most important thing is to get out there, put in the work, if you screw up, remember the lesson, try not to repeat it, fix your error and don't give up. 👍

This came out just in time! I'm just getting ready for painting my 2nd entire car, a Škoda Octavia Mk1.
My first full-car paint job was a Golf Mk4, and thanks to some good advice from Paint Society's videos and Brian in the comment section I had the courge to do it in my garage! Came out great, but this series thought me some more, and I'm hoping the next one will be close to perfection!
Big Up from Romania ! 🇷🇴🖖🏼😉🥳👍🏼🇺🇸🌎

Been watching your videos for the last year to prep for 1st paint job on my project Blazer. Was searching for info that broke down the steps exactly like this 4 part series. Had a few questions on sanding and primers and this was perfect. There's so many videos out there that only go thru parts of the whole process but this is by far the best I've seen. Thanks for your time, effort and clear descriptions. These have to take a lot of time to produce and It is much appreciated.

Hi Brian, I watch a lot of your informative videos and enjoy the tips and advise. I am prepping and painting a Honda Civic at the moment and just wanted to share with you and your veiwers about the dry guide coat. I have been using black chalk and a polishing pad to apply for years on projects with great results. The chalk is used for snap lines but I tried it years ago when sanding and leveling wood projects and now I am having success using it for filler and primer guide coats as it seems to work very well and for about a tenth of the cost.
Anyways, thanks for all of the videos and tips.

Thank you for always giving us details guides Bro. Your hard work and guidance is really appreciated.

I am currently in the process of doing a resto-mod (and colour change) on my wife's Honda EK. I always fall back to your videos for guidance in the event that I get lost haha. This will be my first attempt at a full body respray, and a colour change no less. First sorted the rust repair work, got the dents sorted and layed on primer on the one side (I am laying primer on the entire car eventually) so this video came at the right time. ❤️

Keep up the great work!

Excited for the guide on the sealer as that will be next for me after I finish all the Primer work and sanding.

Have you thought of teaching class? You guys can pass a lot of knowledge to the next generation of painters.

Interesting to see you guys working together on sanding down the primer. Not alot of painter likes to have few guys doing the bodywork together since every painter has their own technique of doing things. I hope everyone will learn from this and make a standard of doing it so with little help from someone which makes the job faster rather than doing it alone by sanding down the primer for the whole car. I learn one thing from this video, if there is no bodywork in the panel, its not required to hand blocking and just use DA machine. Really speed up things. I usually paint quite old vehicle and usually primer the whole car. But some panels still looking good without any dent. Not necessarily required primer, But thats what's the workplace required, they wan it to prime the whole vehicle then hand block it to get as straight as possible.

Guide coat? That looks like toner from a copy machine. Can't wait to try it out.

Have a question which I hope makes sense. After primer, if I’m NOT using a sealer, would I still use P400 on the DA and base over that or would the final grit then have to change?

Given that I wouldn’t have that sealer coat on the car before the base coat like you have done in this example.

Thanks for the great videos!

Great video. Why the abrasive prep and clean after sanding? Why not dish soap and water?
Thank you for video!!!
