APM Conference London 2019 - Adam Altoft

Adam is HMRC’s Smarter Ways of Working Programme Director, accountable for modernising working practices across HMRC’s 60,000 strong workforce by seizing the opportunities provided by investment in improved technology and workplaces. Adam was previously Head of Business Readiness and Benefits Realisation in HMRC’s estates transformation programme, one of the largest infrastructure change programmes in Europe and a key enabler for Smarter Working.

In addition to his experience in the leadership of projects and programmes, Adam began his civil service career as an analyst and is a qualified member of the Government Social Research profession. He previously ran the private office of the HMRC CEO and Permanent Secretary and, prior to joining the civil service, worked in the local government and academic sectors.
