Almost 20 years ago, the Maruti Suzuki Swift told us a fun car doesn't have to be expensive or impractical and here it is to prove that point against a 2008 model Swift. Today we'll use our ride, performance and handling tests to see just how far we’ve come since 2005. This is Swift vs Swift.

It's unfair to have the 2008 swift vdi vs a 2024 swift zxi+ . The correct test pair would've been the 2008 swift zxi abs manual vs 2024 zxi+ abs manual

Audio is terrible. The music is obnoxious and too loud and the speaker's words are low and muted

Old swift tyre for LDI and VDI model was 165/80 r14 and ZDI/ZXI tyre was 185/70 R14 which is same width as new swift 185/65 r15. If old swift was shod with 185/70R14 tyre then it would have been an another game; believe me..

2nd gen never came with 1298 engine. It was K series 1197cc.

Diesel engine code was DDIS. K series is Suzuki's petrol lineup code.

K12N diesel in 3rd gen ? How this is even possible ? Code word of both Fiat and Suzuki?😂

What kind of channel is this ?

Comparing a VDI to a newer Petrol version is not the right way. Stock tyre size, ABS, ESP and more over the weight will have a huge impact on the test results. You should have done a ZXi 2004 to ZXi 2024 comparison😊

Old Swift was so good compared to 3 Rd gen. It has weight, good steering response engine was a charm but the later gens cams eto be cheap, light weight and flop built quality. Maruti is going down the hill of distruction.

old swift is on slimmer tires whereas the newer one is with fatter tires. Both with same set of tires, I bet the old swift will do better than what it achieved in the cornering and braking tests.

I am using swift VDI for last 14 years, fully satisfied except with the most common steering issues from maruti Suzuki

Gen 1 Swift had EPS with rack mounted motor. And it's the only generation of Swift to get a rack mounted EPS, all others have column mounted EPS, hence why it's sharper and more agile!
