I watched this video 3 years ago when I was 9 years old and wanted to ride a skateboard, and I LOVED how Spencer taught me how to ride, build, and do tricks on a skateboard! I re-watched his videos to remember the good old times. Take his advice, he is AWESOME!!!

when i jump i land on my right foot. i do everything leading with my right foot. but i skate the most comfortably regular. your skate stance isnt determined by the jump thing. its just what foot you put first when you first step on a skateboard. just like writing. the hand you naturally write with is the hand you naturally pick your pencil up with for the first time ever.

Thanks for this. It’s great to know that being goofy footed is ok. I was taught it was wrong as a kid way back.


The backstory is, I used to cruise around on a skateboard as a kid (these were those cheap early 90s boards). I was made fun of because I was goofy footed and had no clue it was ok to ride that way so I stopped. I always wanted to get back into it. I didn’t know cruise skateboards were an actual thing either. I thought it was all tricks. I’m in my 40s and I’m saving for a cruiser board now (to go with rollerblading, I want to skate to rollerblade points like parks or river/seafronts and piers). I went to the cruiseboard reddit sub and found out I wasn’t alone in wanting to start again much later. But life is short and I want to have fun rather than sitting around bored and dreaming.

I was never any good at tricks really. I wish I could but I just want to cruise for now.
