I'm guessing the writers chose Excelsior to be blown up just because it had the same name as Sulu's ship. They probably didn't realise Elnor was on board. But since the series is over, the writers will have no opportunity to retcon this. Therefore it is now canon that Elnor died off-screen.

Elnor, Soji, Jurati, and Laris were all on the same transport ship when it exploded under mysterious circumstances shortly after a tailor disbarked.

Harry Kim was killed in voyager and was replaced by an alternate timeline version of himself and no one cared or noticed.

Elnor being on that ship would explain how the bridge crew retake the bridge so fast. The guy probably still carries a sword, which work pretty well against the Borg.

I saw this come up in my recommended feed and it actually took me 5 seconds to even remember who Elnor was

But there is much weeping in Rivendell.

Or in other words... the first and only time ever in star trek picard, the main star fleet personnel protagonists handled an emotional situation professional.

The irony of the USS Hikaru Sulu was one of the ships that fired at the USS Excelsior.

The same question was brought up to Terry metalis who assured fans that Eleanor was not on the excelsior at that time

The events of picard season 3 are a little over a year after season 2. A cadet cruise is usually six months to an academic year at maximum, it is more than likely that elnor was on earth at the academy, as a student and not on a ship during frontier days, as at the beginning of season 2 he was a new 1st year cadet. That does not mean he survived, but it is not a given that he died it is infact pretty unlikely and I liked Elnor I just felt he was a waisted opertunity to be really good with better writers i honestly wish they would have moved him to the titan with seven and put him in as a "security" cadet and reduced him in season 3 to background bridge crew instead of compleatly writing him out. But Terry has said he was not on the Excelsior, which is consistent with the fact that he was on a cadet training cruise in season 2 and not as a permanent assignment to the Excelsior.

Perhaps he did, perhaps not. Season 3 takes place several years after season 2, as I recall Raffi was 1st Officer of the Excelsior when Elnor was put there, it could very well be that Elnor moved on too.

Didnt Matalas confirm that he was not onboard the Excelsior when it was destroyed?

When Q turned up in the end credits to pester Jack I thought Will might appear next to him and say "Sorry Jack, he just keeps escaping no matter where we hold him" then they both zap back out of existence.

I thought he died on it, but the show runner confirmed he was not on the Excelsior unfortunately.

After the personal, almost mother/son-relationship Raffi built with Elnor during the preceding episodes and how hard his death hit her in S2, it was extremely awkward that she never even mentioned him, regardless of him being on the _Excelsior_ or not.
