Earlier today, the Kanlaon volcano produced a large eruption, leading to the evacuation of 87,000 people. This volcano's alert level was subsequently raised, and now there is a potential danger that more significant explosive activity will occur. So, how significant was the eruption that occurred, how much of the landscape did pyroclastic flows scorch, and why is there a danger of lahars? This video will discuss how this eruption occurred and suggest what might happen next.

Statistics suggest that Kanlaon’s current eruption shouldn’t get any larger. Additional smaller explosions seem most likely although anything is technically possible.

After I got a notification from the eruption I immediately ran outside to see it and when I saw it my jaw dropped.

My girlfriend's family is from Bacolod. We were there in April and left only a couple weeks before the last minor eruption. Hopefully this is as big as the eruptions get. Thanks for your coverage as always.

Yesterday I was going home after my class around 3 pm, I saw a pecuiliar looking cloud and thought it could be a rain cloud. Turns out it was Kanlaon Volcano's eruption. Luckily I live in Northern Negros....it was a pecuiliar experience to see the ashes rise in real time from a distance

Kanlaon and Taal eruptions make Mayon's activity look so gentle and tiny.

It is rare for a volcanic eruption to have a visible shockwave.

Nice to see you on Shawn's channel yesterday, if possible it would be cool to see how you found minerals when you were in University. Very cool Kanlaon’ video and the shock wave.

It's amazing how short most eruptions really last.

We just went there in October and went to the big cross to take a picture. It's so magestic. I love Bacolod and Kanlaon.

In some reports, many people near the volcano (around 15km) heard a loud boom when it was erupting and thought of a bomb explosion. No record of broken glass or deafening ears. But the sound is real loud.

There is a CCTV of people's reaction to the boom and a friend of mine who lives in Canlaon City heard it like a power fuse blows up and thought that it was that.

Ok... the graphic of the pyroclastic flow map @00:32 had me do a double take... I realize it is innocent but for a second I though you were trolling...
That video of the flows looked terrifying. The lahars also sound very unpleasant. Thank you for keeping us updated.
