Iggy Pop, leader of The Stooges, elected into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010. This is a great rabbit hole to dive down. You have to check out "Real Wild Child (Wild One)", "Cry For Love" and "Candy" (a duet he did with Kate Pierson, one of the female vocalists of The B-52s). He also did a duet with Debbie Harry of Blondie called "Well, Did you Evah!"

Speaking of David Bowie, you really should check out "All The Young Dudes" by Mott The Hoople. Bowie wrote the song and gave it to them and also performs on it.

Hells ya! Siouxsie Sioux did a great cover of this, but Iggy is legendary. Try Lust for Life!

Iggy Pop is urban and gritty, like The Velvet Underground or, later, The New York Dolls. You need to listen to his music in that context. I've seen him perform in large concert halls, small clubs and even a roller rink in Centerline, Michigan, March 1980. He is the ultimate showman. Peace.
