The Marie Antoinette line is probably the most hilarious I've heard in music by far.

Forget the guitar - Jordan’s vocal, lyrical & arranging style was a HUGELY ENORMOUS influence on all of Chuck Berry’s non-blues song, throughout all of his career. But you can also hear Nat King Cole in some of his songs, too : Chuck liked to play homage to many of the musical trends of his pre-fame days.

Berry admitted he lifted the lick from Jordan's guitar player, Carl Hogan...although Hogan plays single notes and Berry plays double notes...also listen to T-Bone Walker's Strollin' With The Bones... Berry cites Charlie Christian, Hogan and Walker as his guitar influences...Berry has been upfront with all of this...listen to Roll'em Pete from 1938 and not only can you hear Berry's lick coming from a piano but you will also hear quite possibly the first Rock'n'Roll song from Big Joe Turner and piano player Pete Johnson...

Rhythm and Blues, Boogie Woogie, and Rock and Roll.
Good candidate for the birth of rock.

He says in "Hail, Hail, Rock N Roll" documentary that he first heard that riff from Tommy Dorsey the guitarist in Louis Jordans band. He didn't hide from that influence.

The guitar SOLO is a precursor to the solo in Rock Around The Clock.

First of all Chuck said that Carl Hogan was a big influence on national TV (Johnny Carson The Tonight Show). Carl Hogan got it from a piano riff. Boogie Woogie was a piano style to begin with. It's not note for note Johnny B. Goode (Chuck played beyond the 8 bar intro on this one). It's not a rip off. It's how music progresses. That's why it's so cool to dig back into the roots. I love Carl Hogan's solo at the end of the song before the last chorus.

Magnificent. Indisputable. The intro riff (so imitated by everyone, after all) is a lesson in itself. The perfect guitar, without masks or effects. And not only because of the notes, but because of how they are played: that way of picking... Thanks for sharing. Love from Spain.
