Hall Bath Wallpaper Reveal!

I was a professional wallpaper installer for over 10 years from the mid-eighties to the mid-90s. I used to do the exact same thing when dealing with this problem.

I learned that when putting dark wallpaper up, it is important to paint the walls first in the main dark colour of your wallpaper.

I’ve seen with old style wallpaper with white borders, you put it up overlapping the edges. While the paste is still damp, you take a straight edge and a razor knife and cut them both to trim off the edges and the noticeable overlap.
Once you cut it you peel off the edges and then roll the seam.

You then have a perfect matching seam. I have some vintage books about painting and wallpapering.

I have also had a problem when the corner of the wall was out of plumb. As a result the wall paper didn’t meet up in a lower corner.
The paper had a white background so I took white paper and papered it up . I then sat and cut designs from the paper and glued and blended it the fill in the blank area. Basically, I decoupage it.
If you looked closely you might notice changes in the patterns but for the most part on the lower wall
, it filled the blank area.
Old houses sometimes have wonky walls.

Something I discovered recently when wallpapering was to work from two rolls at the same time and alternative them and I only had a tiny bit of waste each time instead of a huge piece every time, managed to use way less this way and saved a lot of money too 🥰

My mom did wallpaper in the 80s and early 90s, and she taught us to overlap the wallpaper and then use a straight edge to cut straight down over the overlap of both pieces before removing the cuts to make a seam. She never had an issue with having to paint her seams. She used to take all of the trim off of the wall so she could get the panels as close to the ceiling as possible before overlaying the trim, so your addition of extra trim was a total pro move and you didn't even know it! Placing the trim over the paper panels ensures that they stay in place and you deal with fewer peeling issues. You did a fabulous job as a DIYer, seriously! It looks great!

This wallpaper and the colours you chose are GORGIOUS!
I try to ease the paper against the paper it will abut, until it ever so slightly 'buckles'.
Then when it shrinks as it dries (as it does), they end up exactly where they should be.
The solution isn't to overlap and cut, since your pattern won't match because it will be missing a bit.
