#Lawan rally - 31 July 2021

On July 31, nearly a thousand people took to the streets in the #Lawan rally, calling on the government to act on the rising number of Covid-19 cases in Malaysia. Since then, cases have breached more than 20,000 reported daily and more than 12,000 dead. The protest also calls on the resignation of the Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

The People's Solidarity group (Sekretariat Solidarity Rakyat) will be organising a larger rally on 21 August 2021, repeating the call of the resignation of Muhyiddin and his whole cabinet over the failure of the government in managing and mitigating Covid-19. Seven members from the secretariat were called in for an investigation by the police ahead of the rally.
