The R package selectiongain is a tool to optimize plant breeding schemes. Based on a fixed budget and costs for seed production, genomics, etc, which are defined by the user, it computes the maximum selection gain thereby optimizing the number of lines, replications, test locations and testers. In this film I show you important general results affecting optimum breeding schemes. Additionally, I show a comparison of a phenotypic with a genomic-assisted breeding scheme for hybrid wheat breeding.
