What is an IPA?

Nick, our Chief Beer Educator gives a super quick run down of what an IPA is...

Nick: “No other three letters can sum up the craft beer revolution than I P A. And no other beer in history has been so Fabled and mythical. But the fact and fiction can be hard to separate. Which is a shame, because the truth is far more interesting than the tales on the back of a beer mat will ever be!”

Ash: “The thing I love about Pale Ales and IPAs is their diversity! It’s the most varied and popular style of craft beer in the world, and only beaten on a global non-craft scale by mass-produced awful lagers. These beers are infamous, and rightly so.”

***

IPAs have a rich history, varied brewing techniques, and are extremely diverse. From West Coast IPAs to New England IPAs (NEIPAs), Double IPAs (DIPAs), Triple IPAs (TIPAs), Milkshake IPAs, Sour IPAs, Black IPAs, and even some new ones we are being teased with such as Cold IPAs and West Coast Hazy IPAs...

In this video we barely scratch the surface, but any video you'd like to see us do, then hit us up in the comments!

What kind of bullshit did those people do to mix up the name ipa. So which ones that are available in most countries are nice and bitter?

Just call it craft beer. IPA makes it sound too fancy.
Ale man myself, prefer top yeast beers. They always seem smoother, more palatable and almost always non fizzy. Probably why I’ve taken a liking to mead too.
IPAs and lagers are overrated imo
