Mexican here! Make them again and serve them with a guava syrup!! They’re also usually eaten with “atole” as a drink

My heart broke watching you roll that dough with the wood roller 😭 I’ve been making them every year for Christmas. They definitely weren’t thin enough. We roll the dough and let it rest for a few minutes before extending the dough. Then let them rest again for a few hours until the dough gets dry. They’ll turn out flaky and will practically melt in your mouth.

In Colombia, buñuelos are fried cheese balls ! They're made with salty cheese but still have a slight sweetness to them and are super fluffy on the inside. They're eaten a lot around christmas time, but they're a childhood favorite 'special breakfast' for me :).
It's interesting how some dishes in latam have the same name while being completely different foods lol

So we have these in Oregon and they make item pretty big. We call them elephant ears. I never knew their original, so thanks for the little history lesson!

My mom just made these for us the other day! So great with chompurado! Which you make with milk, masa, salt, sugar and Abuelita hot chocolate and a cinnamon stick.🔥 Happy Holidays everyone! ❤
