Beet Print using Tetra Pak carton and pasta maker

Hello fellow creatives. Here is another experiment in printmaking using Tetra Pak as an etching plate and a pasta maker as a printing press. This time I had some difficulty with the ink bleeding into the paper in my second and third prints. I also tried printing onto a piece of gel print which I really wasn't expecting to transfer at all but actually did. I also experimented with using nail polish to try to create more texture in the plate but not sure how well that worked out. I like the idea of creating depth so I think I'll be trying some collagraph techniques next andwill attempt it on the Tetra Pak since I have accumulated so much of it. Please feel free to share any tips and tricks in the comments. Thank you so much for watching and please like and subscribe to continue following me on my journey!
Here is what was used in the way of materials in this demo:
Here's a list of the things I used:
- Drawing paper and pencil
- Section of Tetra Pak for a printing plate
- Bone paper folder for image transfer
- Various etching tools. (Skewers and scalpels and old dentistry tools work well)
- Speedball carving tool
- Battery operated etching/engraving pen
- Newsprint or old telephone book
- Akua printmaking ink
_ Akua wiping cloth
- Mixed media paper for printing
- Sheets of craft foam for print feeding
- Pasta maker (bought second hand)

I just started to play around with this technique. Your video gave me good ideas for how to transfer my design without denting my milk carton material. I also hadn't thought of using foam sheets for the felt. Thank you!

Wow, that was a process. I presume you reinked to do the subsequent prints? I have a pasta machine I used to use for polymer clay, so I could give this technique a try.

Lovely video! Thank you for sharing it! I was just wondering if you put your gel plate through the press or if you transferred the image by just pressing it on? X

Very informative, thank you! How many times can you print from the tetrapak material before it starts to degrade?
