It took me 4 years to find a reliable and honest mechanic when I moved across the country. I haven’t used a dealership or chain repair shop in decades

It’s disgusting when shop owners screw up this up so badly and refuse to fix it. In the transmission shop we have to mess with wiring constantly. So we get good at it. But not wiring experts.

People gotta stop taking your issues to a massive chain shop like Aamco. Go find a local family business with decades of experience. Their livelihoods depend on how good they serve their customers. Aamco doesn't care.

Imagine being the guy who worked on this car and is a fan of Scotty. He sees this and is crushed.

Ammco has been scamming forever, remember shavings in the pan scam in the 70's

Siennas do last forever! My 2009 has 270, 000 miles. My brother in laws 2008 has 360, 000. Both run like new. Just regular maintenance and an alternator once long ago. That 3.5L V6 is insanely reliable.

Scotty, i can only imagine if that car has a problem with the electrical system, i can only imagine how messed up Electric Vehicles like a Tesla can become over time

Thank you for the information on rich and lean fuel mixtures. You explained that really well.

That's when I would just take that company to court and get my money back that way and Sue them for doing something that didn't fit didn't fix the problem

You would be surprised at how many shops will replace parts and engines and not fix anything.

I noticed the can of Plexus behind you. Good stuff. I use that to clean up my motorcycle fairings too

Taking electrical problems to an AAMCO shop is like taking your wife, in labor, to a dentist! Well, they DO perform Extractions, right?😹

Heck as a reputable mechanic myself that’s
Lesson 101 always check & recheck that whatever you did fixed the problem. This just showed they never road tested the car after putting a new computer in. If I cannot fix a customers car I will only charge them the initial $100 diagnostic fee & nothing else. Only had to do that 5 times in 9.5 years when Some customers complain about my prices & then go elsewhere & ring back weeks later saying we should have come back. They were only charged the $100. I have a major issue in my area having to fix issues caused by other mechanics.

We had work done to a vehicle back around 98' at AAMCO for something that was supposed to be a minor problem and the car would barely shift in gear after the repairs they performed and the letters wouldn't even move correctly anymore. You could put it in drive and the letter could say "R" for reverse. This place was absolutely horrible, never went there ever again.

We need to be vigilant nowadays, gas prices going high, cost of living going high...

The summer after I graduated High School (mid 80s) I worked in a detail shop that also did auto repair. The manager of the shop was basically on a crusade against Jiffy Lube and he would have people referred to him that Jiffy Lube had ruined their cars, he'd do the post mortem and testify in court for people for free. Over the course of that summer he got judgments for at least half a dozen people (then he often did the repair work for them too at a discount). I learned to never trust these lube shops.
