Had one for about 2 years now - and have 100s of hours invested . Phenomenal FPGA console . Also have the n8 pro in both the nes and famicom version and it’s also flawless . It’s def the ultimate way to play . Don’t have an NT mini but I doubt it justifies 3x the price

Generally, I enjoyed watching your video a lot, since I think to get that set myself. So thanks for taking your time to make this video! However, Since you argue with the quality of the reproduction of the games, I hope you can deal with very finicky comments of mine. I know how finicky they are, so don’t think about it too much. Still, talking about technical perfection allows for very little leeway.

For example:
I feel like naming vinyl as an example for superiority was inartfully expressed, or should I say a bad example? Vinyl technically Isn’t superior. It’s the other way around. CD‘s have a higher dynamic range, coming from their 16 bit bit depth, while vinyl tops out at around 7-9 bits. Even the sampling rate and the resulting range of playable frequencies of CD os higher. Vinyl sounds colored and this - together with the manual handling - is what vinyl users prefer.

And talking about scaling with your TV / display, I would argue this way of setting the aspect ratio is technically inferior as well, at least potentially, because you rely on whatever the TV set is doing to dial in the aspect ratio. While that works on filmed material in many circumstances, on computer generated graphics this can induce issues, such as the dreaded scrolling shimmer due to varying pixel sizes.

As for the AVS itself. You’re not talking about the quality of the reproduction of the video games as much. I would have liked to see examples of how this FPGA implementation is superior, quality wise, compared to an emulator. Input lag, of course is one example, but that’s more like the haptics, rather than the reproduction of the games.

Just bought an AVS, anyone know how many times you have to insert/remove a cart before it takes less than 50 lbs of force to insert/remove one? I wanted to be able to play my old games without breaking them and scraping lines in the back of the plastic carts. ( No I am not at all being even slightly sarcastic )

Is it possible to hook the AVS up to a CRT with a lag-free HDMI to Composite adapter?

Have you compared the sound of Ninja Gaiden from to real NES to an AVS retro? In another video I heard the comparison and it sounded muffled and faint. Not horrible, but it was off. What is your take or experience? Thx.
