My father died in my arms, I always feel that I was there for him, I saw he didn't suffer, and wasn't alone. This comforts me and makes me grateful I was there!!!

We played this lovely song at my Dad's Celebration of Life in September and there was not a dry eye in the whole place. The four of us siblings helped him through a long fight with multiple cancers and he got to stay in his life-long home right up until the end. It was the perfect song to share. My youngest brother still listens to it now by himself sometimes to help him release tears and some of the grief. Thank you for listening to it.

The reason its so powerful is the reason this isnt really oscar worthy- he isn't acting! Its an amazing and powerful performance letting his real emotions fully out for everyone to see.

This may be the most emotionally powerful music video I have ever seen. What a beautiful, sincere masterpiece.

My father is my Hero. He passed from cancer in 2016. This video hits home and breaks me down to tears every time. RIP DAD. 🙏

This song is about as real and honest as it gets true raw emotion. The first time I heard this song I ended up a blubbering crying mess. I listened to it about 12 times and cried every time! Dad had been gone about 30 yrs and at the time I was dealing with some things from the past. This song helped me release that junk I had been holding onto.

The frase, "I'm not your son, you're not my father" realy breaks me, cause my father left my mother with 4 little kids, When I was 6 yo, my little brother was 3, my little down sister with just 4, 41 years ago, now he's 74 yo, and all the pain was forgived. This song realy moves me. Thanks for the reaction

Both of them served in the armed forces, his dad didn't really show his emotions as much as he loves his son, and both, with stiff upper lip were prepared to say their goodbyes ... His dad apparently was a little bemused about all the fuss, which kinda makes it all the more poignant ... Just a beautiful song ...

James dad was actually dying from kidney disease & this was his tribute & farewell to his dad. Thankfully his dad received a donor kidney & is doing okay now. If this song doesn't get to you emotionally, there is something wrong with you.

Praise the Lord that after this song was recorded there was a really very happy ending to the song they found a donor and his Daddy is well again. Thanks for the beautiful reaction. Blessings from South Africa.

Not a performance --an experience. And James and his dad both had the courage to share it with us, invite us. It pierces our soul and gives us permission to grieve, to tell those who are important to us that we are grateful. James's and his music -- magic.

Nice reaction Harri. Apparently, this was the first time James had actually sung this song to his dad who had only recently been diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer. James record company had tried to get him to use 'AutoTune' but he refused because he wanted this to be recorded exactly as you see it, and to be 100% real and genuine. To be honest, I have no idea how he managed to hold himself together as well as he did but it makes this extraordinary song so emotional. Both men were officers in the British military.

My father was my hero, the world changed immensely after he passed. It was up to me now.

His dad had stage 4 kidney failure when James wrote this and a donor couldn't be found. After the video was released a distant cousin came forward who was a match. He donated all the profits from this song to Help For Hero's a UK veterans charity (both him and his dad were in the military). They did this in one take and at the end everyone in the studio was crying except James' dad who said 'why all this I'm not gone yet'.

That is the line that gets me the hardest too! I have watched it so many times and still have to grab the kleenex. After the end of this video the only dry eyes were Charles Blount. He said why is everyone crying? I'm still here! He had himself been a kidney donor but now he was in kidney failure. He did get a transplant from a distant cousin, also named Charles Blount.

So many of us don't take the opportunity to say good bye to our parents because we never want to admit that we're about to loose them. My Dad was 87 when he passed and my Mom was 94 when she passed and it was still so hard to watch them go. I have such a hole in my life now that they are gone. I cry buckets full of tears every time I hear this song. Thanks for this reaction.
