SCP-5987 - Sirenhead

SCP 5987 is a Humanoid Ontokinetic Class anomaly (possibly) also known as Sirenhead.

SCP-5987 includes Item 6789-AH. It is the French captain François Aregnaudeau, captain of the Duc de Dantzig. The SCP5987 item is believed to be a Preternatural Being of some renown, though a full description of its abilities is unconfirmed. What has been observed is that 6789-AH is able to physically control the paths of other ships within eyesight, manipulating their sails and riggings any way it pleases. 6789-AH has used this ability to run vessels and their crews aground, or dash them against rocks and collect whatever of value remained.

I like how a wood ship gets a happy ending when it comes to SCP tales. But literally every dragon whether it be paper or real is annihilated by some form of human means.

OK, since there is a LOT of people confused, I will try to clarify this:

When Trevor Henderson started making his creations, SCP videos were in full swing on YouTube. And people started thinking that his creation Sirenhead was an SCP, which some channels leaned into.

When people who believed this headed to the actual SCP site and couldn't find it (at the time SCP entries were only up to 5999) they started logging into their forums and Discord and pestering about why wasn't it there. So one of the authors there decided to have fun with this insistence and made 5987.

What this channel did was acknowledge this with their reference to the precursor to the SCP listing THEIR 6789 with a rather familiar picture depicting a tall humanoid figure that cause auditory illusions. They were actually referring to the Captain of the ship, thinking he was the anomaly rather than the siren figurehead he was controlling that was causing the destruction...

I've heard of this particular figurehead, it's originally Nordic or Sumerian originally designed to guard transport ships. As of which deity made it's unknown. Some information suggests that it was created by the Greek Titan Calypso, or the Sumerian river god Thai, vasta. Either way it's original function was to actually act as a guardian spirit for trade vessels. This particular SCP seems to be very similar to it.

I see now. This is why the anomaly is destroying other ships. Bcuz those marines destroyed it, it's still kinda traumatized and gets overprotective everytime other ships come around it bcuz it think it might be harmed again. Either that or it's just simple vengeance
