Those cookies aren’t that bad, besides them being dry as hell

Edit: settling the debate. These cookies either taste good or taste like sand. Depending on your appetite.

I often joke around that the best part of the Super Bowl and the only reason why you should watch it are the commercials that air between breaks.

Nowadays, that's just the truth.

Ok here’s an description of a BMW E30

The 1989 BMW E30 is part of the second generation of the BMW 3 Series, a model that is still celebrated today for its blend of sportiness, style, and driving dynamics. Introduced in 1982 and produced until 1994, the E30 has earned its reputation as one of the most iconic vehicles in BMW’s history.

Exterior and Design

The 1989 E30 features classic, sharp-edged styling that makes it stand out in the automotive world. It has a compact, boxy shape with clean lines and a purposeful stance, a design ethos that carries the heritage of BMW’s more performance-focused models. The front end is dominated by its signature quad headlights, wide kidney grilles, and a pronounced lip spoiler that adds to its sporty look. The rear end is simple yet elegant, with rectangular tail lights and a subtle rear bumper that complements the vehicle’s overall design.

The 1989 E30 was available in several body styles, including a two-door coupe, four-door sedan, and a convertible. The coupe version is the most widely recognized, maintaining a perfect balance between practicality and performance.

Interior and Features

Inside, the 1989 BMW E30 is oriented toward the driver. It features a cockpit-style layout with a traditional BMW dashboard that prioritizes clear visibility and control. The instrument cluster is simple and functional, with a tachometer, speedometer, and fuel gauge clearly displayed. The center console is straightforward, with controls for the air conditioning, radio, and the gear shifter in easy reach.

The interior materials are of high quality for the era, with soft-touch plastics, leather upholstery, and cloth seats available depending on the trim level. In terms of space, the E30 offers a reasonably comfortable experience for its size, with sufficient legroom for front passengers and decent rear seat space for a compact car. The rear seats fold down, expanding the trunk area for added utility.

Performance and Powertrains

The 1989 E30 was available with a wide range of engine options, depending on the market and model variant. The most common configurations included:
• BMW 325i (2.5-liter inline-six): The 325i, which was one of the most popular models in the E30 range, was powered by a 2.5-liter inline-six engine that produced around 168 horsepower and 164 lb-ft of torque. This engine provided the E30 with smooth, linear power delivery, making it a well-rounded performer.
• BMW 318i (1.8-liter inline-four): A smaller, more economical option with a 1.8-liter inline-four engine producing around 100-113 horsepower, the 318i offered a more budget-friendly alternative while still maintaining BMW’s driving dynamics.
• BMW M3 (2.3-liter inline-four): The E30 M3, introduced in 1986 and available in 1989, was a race-bred model designed for high performance. Powered by a 2.3-liter, naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine, the M3 produced around 200 horsepower, which made it one of the most revered performance cars of its era, thanks to its lightweight construction, superior handling, and iconic status.

Transmission options included a 5-speed manual as standard, with a 4-speed automatic available on certain models. The 1989 E30’s rear-wheel-drive layout and near-perfect 50/50 weight distribution contributed to exceptional handling, making it agile and fun to drive on both twisty roads and highways.

Handling and Ride Quality

The E30’s driving dynamics were what truly set it apart. With its independent front and rear suspension and precise steering, the car feels balanced and planted. The suspension, though firm, offers a comfortable ride without sacrificing performance. Whether carving through corners or cruising at highway speeds, the E30 gives its driver a sense of connection to the road that is a hallmark of BMW’s engineering philosophy.

Safety and Technology

While the 1989 E30 wasn’t equipped with the advanced safety features found in modern vehicles, it was built with solid construction and safety in mind. It included front and rear crumple zones, a rigid passenger cell, and a driver’s side airbag (available in some models). Anti-lock brakes (ABS) were also available on higher trim levels, providing improved safety during emergency braking situations.

In terms of technology, the E30 was equipped with features typical of late 1980s vehicles, such as a cassette player, manual windows, and simple climate control. Some higher-end models featured power windows, a sunroof, and leather upholstery.

Legacy and Collectibility

The 1989 BMW E30 remains a beloved model among enthusiasts and collectors. Its combination of iconic design, performance, and BMW’s renowned engineering has earned it a place in automotive history. The E30’s timeless looks and driving experience have made it a sought-after classic, with the 325i and M3 models particularly fetching higher values on the used car market.

As of today, many E30s are still on the road, and the model has an active enthusiast following. Restoration parts are readily available, and the vehicle’s relatively simple construction makes it a popular choice for DIY mechanics. The E30’s combination of performance, style, and solid build quality continues to make it one of the most revered cars in the history of BMW and the compact sports sedan segment.

In summary, the 1989 BMW E30 is a defining example of the brand’s ability to deliver a driver’s car that balances performance, style, and practicality. Its legacy as a true enthusiast’s vehicle has ensured that it remains a highly respected and cherished model among classic car lovers.
