One of the “delicious ironies” of Queensland politics is that the “left-leaning” Palaszczuk government is “anti-coal”, says Sky News Queensland Editor Peter Gleeson.

Mr Gleeson said the Queensland government has introduced a royalties tax, despite the “largest amount of monetary revenue” for the state coming from the coal industry.

“They didn’t even consult the industry,” he told Sky News Australia.

“When it comes to politics, when it comes to politicians … if their mouth moving, you can take it from me, they’re telling a porky.”

The Queensland govt. is like a man who cooks a goose that lays golden eggs for the sake of an immediate meal and then is amazed when no more golden eggs are forthcoming.

Clean coal energy is possible there are machines capable of capturing co2 since the 1930s and they are a lot cheaper than solar panels. The question : Is the Government going to use this tax money to build co2 capturing technologies or they are going to use the money to go in vacation, same as they have always done for the past 30 years ?

Kevin is a Queenslander and a labour man and I believe still has a bit of influence.Gina is a liberal and from Perth but has mines in qld and will be adversely affected by a royalty hike.just a month ago Kevin sold a house in Noosa that he purchased just six months ago and sold it to Gina for 3 million more than he paid for it.the silence by the media is deafening.

Would calling this an energy “black hole” be trite?

Why did you stop at coal because what about gas and agriculture?
Of course the Queensland government is supporting tourism because the state depends on it so heavily when in fact Australian's spend twice as much overseas as foreign tourists spend here.
Pallachook couldn't run a chook raffle.
If anyone had been awake you now know why Queensland is the second worst performing state in the country.
Labor has been in power for something like 25 of the last 30 years and they're still finding someone else to blame.
Can't wait for Albosleeze to really get working on the national economy.

there is enough clean burning coal just in the small area of the smokey mountains, I used to live in, to power the entire US for the next 200 years.. electricity is not renewable given the rare earth required to manufacture the components.
