Absolutely agreed brother. Planned obsolescence and anti-right to repair is a horrible thing

Some dude in Asia will have it pulled apart and back together all while wearing flip flops made of soda bottles.

If it truly is "too complicated to repair", it's because the company purposely built it that way. Fuck that.

I work in a machine shop in Grand Rapids and we repair the bores on those DT12’s. And the cost is pretty reasonable!

First person to buy one and tear it apart and find out the internals are just reused current production parts wins the gold medal.

Such a transmission should come with a million mile warranty

I remember, when working at a freightliner dealership, when these came out. Wasn’t long and there was issues with a few of them. The engineers figured out, supposedly, what was wrong with it. Started to send us the part and was like “oh yeah, you do t have the tools needed to disassemble it”

That’s why I support the right to repair the shit we buy.

Funny because I'm a diesel mechanic in a motor coach fleet business and it turns out that our newer MCIs will not have any more Detroit's but rather Cummins X12s onwards due to ending our contract with Detroit and watching it from this video seems like it's the reason why MCI decided to go with Cummins instead of Detroit. 🤔 Which is fine and perfect for me because in my honest opinion, me and three of my other co-workers absolutely hate working on Detroit's they are a pain in my ass to work on compared to any other engine I have ever worked on. They are too cramped and pushed into each other and servicing those Detroit engines in motor coaches are a pain in my rear end rather having a Cummins, Volvo, or CAT, which is the opposite because those engines in those motor coaches have so much more room and easier to work on, we're talking all year models. So I'm glad that we ended our contract with Detroit in general, sadly most of our fleet contains Detroit's about maybe 65%, And we have to get parts from them from time to time but I'm glad that our newer vehicles coming in do not contain or even have a Detroit related in it.

Right To Repair should practically be an amendment in our constitution.

This is why older vehicles are getting rejuvenated more and more. I love the oldies! Keep’em running!

Thanks for your work brother. I don’t do trucking and logging, but Leo Fender said “A quality instrument is easily repaired.”

It better be gauranteed for life if you're going to tell us we can't repair it.
