#IFD 2424 W 61st Residence Fire

1:58 AM - #IFD and #PTFD battled a single story residence at 2424 W 61st St. early this am and discovered a victim inside the structure, as command ordered defensive operations only. The blaze had a solid head start before IFD arrived on scene and the house sits in an unhydranted area on Indy's NW side.

The victim was removed by firefighters from the structure and the exact cause of death is under investigation.

Firefighters were able to establish a water supply utilizing the labor intensive process of setting up and utilizing tanker operations and marked the fire under control in 1 hour. No firefighter injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Just curious, shouldn't it be a policy to wear respirators during an active fire to protect the great men and woman of IFD? Any steps to reduce the risk of cancer!
