James, for the first time I have mixed feelings about the current situation...
I come from Argentina, so you can understand how much I advocate for crypto to escape all the currency controls, inflation and currency restrictions -- for financial freedom.
But now for the first time, I find myself relieved and glad that Europe and the US, united, managed to isolate Russia financially to put pressure and hinder it's invasion of Ukraine.
I must say that I am biased, I know many people currently in Ukraine and I am deeply concerned.
I also know many Russians, and every single one of them is totally against the war, and speaking out in social media against it. I couldn't be more proud of all my Russian friends!

It would seem that for many Americans the war in Ukraine is too far away and maybe not too important, and they see it as something that cannot affect them except for some gains or loses in their portfolio. Many are even scared of calling it for what it is, i.e. "an invasion". But again, without getting too political in this post (maybe you'll understand where I am going), I'll just reiterate that I am very happy that the west united to uphold its values. Because even our worst hardships are not comparable to what other people have to live with every single day of their lives in other parts of the world. Where they don't only lack financial freedom, but also freedom of speech, freedom of press, and even freedom of thought.

Finally, I'll leave a quote from Martin Niemöller:
"First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me."
