GM Air Conditioning Pressure Switch Problem and Replacement!!
Don't Charge Your A/C Till You Check This!!

In this video I fix an issue I was having with my GMC Envoy air conditioning system. While most of the time the a/c works fantastic, I was having a peculiar issue where the compressor would shut down for no good reason. Upon some investigation I came upon what's called the low pressure switch. This typical GM air conditioning pressure switch monitors the refrigerant pressures and if there's a problem it'll shut down the compressor in order to protect it. You can imagine, if this part malfunctions, the compressor will act irrationally. This irrational behavior is what I think was happing to my system. Those it wasn't very often, it seemed to happen at the worst times. I swapped the pressure switch for a brand new GM ACDelco unit and so far we've not experienced the issue again.

Thank you so very much for this. I am retried and on SSI. I could not afford to take my 2005 Chevy Silverado to a mechanic. It has been 100 degree days here in NC. I did go purchase the pressure switch, and guess what? It worked!!!! I am very indebted to you for this video.

Hey, Thank you! You have saved me much grief. I own an 02 suburban, the AC quit, I changed the pressure switch like you suggested and it now works perfectly! Very informative video!

I love that there is a GM favored channel on YT that aligns with my shared ideals of longevity and maintenance over replacement. You are doing a good thing, and I wanted to take the time to thank you for your content.

This part replacement fixed my 1998 Chevy 2500 Silverado today. I had just replaced the compressor, had the AC charged, and then it was doing exactly as described in this video. Sadly, I hadn't seen this video until after paying $213 for inspection and then to test and replace this part. But thank you for sharing this video to save others! ❤

Man, life saver. Just in time for the long weekend. Thank you so much for your video. I used the same switch right from your video, and everything is working as it should. Clutch is turning on and off, and ac is cold as before.

I’m troubleshooting a random issue with my car and even though this is not the issue, I must say, this is a well produced video….very inspiring for my own content. Great job man.

I have a 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 with 140000 on her and mine was doing the same thing after doing some homework I decided to replace the actuator door being my truck only has 1 and the part was cheap as well but so far that seemed to fix the issue.
I wanted to also add when this problem would a cure I found that turning the motor off and restarting the motor the problem went away and my ac would work again but now since the new part is in all is good .

I wish I would have seen this video 5 months ago. I replace my ac compressor and after 1 month it would have same problems you described. I replace the switch and problem solve.

I've had issues on my '02 Blazer with the low side Schrader port sticking open, causing me to loose full charge. On the car's I've owned I've never had a pressure switch fail (I'm sure now that I've said that it'll fail lol). Good to know you can just unscrew those, I've always thought you had to vacuum the refrigerant and then replace it, vacuum the system down and then fill it back up, but this is good to know for the future!

I've fold the problem of cycling on and off is usually because the system is low on charge. The pressure sensor is telling it to turn off.

Thanks. My car would work fine below 85 degrees outside but when above 85 degrees ac would blow hot air and cut off compressor. High pressure switch.

I think you should have checked the clutch or relay. This parts cannon video isn’t the end of the saga. Guaranteed.
