So alimony was basically created to support women after breaking up with their husband. They should get rid of this system point blank period. If you are not with the person then why should you still fund their lifestyle???

The idea is support that you support the lower income spouse (even though there are no longer your spouse) to enjoy the same standard of living and privileges they were enjoying when they were in the contract of marriage even though they broke out of that contract themselves. Sounds like a great idea for American Home Sweet Homes :)

If I’m getting divorced why is it my job to ensure they’re quality of life that makes absolutely zero sense I understand child support, but this makes absolutely zero sense and I see no use for it at all except people exploiting each other for their own gain
