China J-16D electronic warfare fighters approach Taiwan, can jam Taiwanese radar and communications

China's J-16D electronic warfare fighter has entered Taiwan's so-called Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) for the first time.
On 24 Jan 2022, Taiwan medias report that for the first time this new large size fighter participate the flight mission.
On 24th, China sent 13 aircrafts, J-16D is the latest fighter joining the mission for the first time.
The J-16D can disable enemy radar and communication equipment, it carries YJ-91 and YJ-83 air-to-surface missiles.
This advanced fighter officially made its public debut at Zhuhai Air Show in South China in October 2021.
J-16D is based on J-16 fighter bomber. J-16D is claimed to be "capable of reconnaissance, attack and escort".
J-16D has two electronics pods on wing tips, similar to EA-18G. This also clearly distinguish J-16D from J-16 and J-11.
J-16D can carry YJ-91 anti-radar missile, and YJ-83 anti-ship missile, PL-10 and PL-15 air-to-air missiles, and guided bombs.
It has been participating combat training with J-20 and other fighters, now it is involved in Taiwan related missions.
This is the second time Taiwan authority confirmed a new type of mainland fighter approaching the island.
In Dec 2021, Y-20U aerial refueling aircraft joined a fleet of fighters and bombers, flew into the "identification zone".
Previously electronic warfare aircrafts entered the Taiwan ADIZ don't directly participate in combat missions.
