That's a clean setup (no pun intended).
I wish i had mine set up in a basement instead of the attic.

Great tutorial. I did something similar a year ago but my install required adding a ton more PEX to have my water softner and water filtration system install on the other end of my garage.

Thanks for putting this together, not very difficult as a DIY project!

Silly question. 🙋‍♂️ do you have to have a GFCI Main breaker in that box as it is within 6 feet of water?

I'm seriously thinking of getting a PEX A tool. I'm a real estate investor and am going to start doing some house flipping. If I can do at least some of the plumbing myself, it would save a TON of money. Plus, I like working on this kind of stuff. I've only ever worked with PEX B, though, so thinking of upping my game.

My research indicates that the SpringWell CF1 is better overall and though more expensive in the beginning, will save money over the long run.

Is pipe dope allowed on potable water supply lines and or fixtures in your municipality?

What’s the anti-scale filter for? Does it help with hard water?

Backwashing catalytic carbon filter (and water softener if required) after the filters.

Do you need a permit to do something like this?

My question is though. What good is a filter if the pre existing pipes are caked with calcium and whatever else?

I have two standard smaller size whole house filters a sediment and a carbon. They have air bleeder valves built in on top which if I don't use the filter housing is too tight that you can't unscrew. I think you over tighten your filter housing and will pay for it when you have to change the filters. When you have to change the filters to relieve pressure you will have to open up your sediment filter, which I Like what you have but I think you should have added a larger sediment filter after it before your carbon. The other thing you can do to relieve most of the pressure is to shut off your supply and shut off your by pass then open a house faucet till the pressure is gone then close the filter exit shut off valve so the water won't backflow.

State Licensed HVAC/Plumber I started a thread in a Journeyman Plumber message board; "Tape? Dope? Or both?" I had 300 responses. 80-85% said both. 15% said we were suffering from dementia. I tape AND dope.
