Nitpick, but I just started watching the video and you made a mistake: the iPhone 7 and the Galaxy S8 haven't "reached parity" on water resistance at all. The iPhone 7 has a resistance rating of IP67, which means it can be immersed in fresh water for upto 1 metre for upto 30 minutes. The Galaxy line all have a rating of IP68, which means a device can be immersed for 30 minutes deeper than 1m: for the Galaxy S8 this is upto 1.5m. The Galaxy range of devices currently have a higher water resistance rating than the iPhone.

I just don't see how a big screen justifies the big price jump on both the note and s series smartphones, compared to last year's flagships, when literary not a lot has changed in the internals.

This is what I don't get. Over the years, it has been said that the Note line is not a fair comparison to the iPhone. There are a different class of smartphones simply because of the S Pen and all of the other features that have been packed into the Note. So why now?

Nothing has changed much with the iPhone. Not much more will change with the new one. They reduced the bezels, have waterproofing, stereo speakers and may have wireless charging. They may or may not stepup the security and effectiveness of facial unlock. We really don't know yet. But none these changes are innovative. That would suggest that they did it first or pioneered. We haven't seen that.

Apple hasn't indicated that they are coming out with an iPhone that has an innovative took like the S Pen. So why compare these two. The S8/S8 Plus is the closest comparison and still is light years ahead of an not yet launched iPhone 8/X.

It is not about being a Samsung fan. These are just facts. If I'm wrong, where are the "firsts" that make this new iPhone innovative? Design is user preference. So where is the innovation in the guts of the device (software & hardware)? Facts, not opinion.

Guys. The black box on the camera is actually to reduce light reflection when taking photos. Helps improve image quality. There is function to design.
