SANDWORMS Of DUNE: Who Brought Them To Arrakis And Why?

Sandworms — Perhaps the Main Symbol of the Entire *Dune* Cycle. The giant, deadly monsters on which the life of the entire galaxy depends seem like truly unknowable beings, still shrouded in mystery thousands of years after their discovery by humans.

BTW, after the sandworms went to Kelso, Chapterhouse and Synchony, the sandworms re-emmerged on Arrakis, breaking through the glass surface and, ravenous, ate their Tleilaxu worshiper.

there is no spice without them. and that alone make them the most important creatures in the DUNE universe.

If the Muadru were humans who travelled the universe at a much earlier time when technology was much less advanced, then space travel would have taken an incredible amount of time. Distance would also therefore have been more limited, so the original home world of the sandworms should have been within reach of said technologies and discoverable by humans. But no other world with Sandworms is ever mentioned. What happened to it? That's a rather big plot hole. A feature of Frank Herbert's writing is that he assigned all of the worlds in his stories to REAL stars: Sigma Draconis for Corin, Gamma Piscium for Salusa Secundus, Alpha 1 Capricorni for Geidi Prime, Delta Pavonis for Caladan, and Alpha Carinae (Canopus) for Arrakis/Dune ... which is an astounding 313 light years from our solar system. It should have taken the Maudru millennia to discover Dune. And why would they bring sandtrout to Arrakis but not anywhere else? This theory has lots of holes if you think too deeply, but that's the problem with science fiction. The more logic you apply only unravels the stories. Some things are better left unanswered, or you end up asking why the Death Star can fire 8 lasers that combine into one, defying the laws of physics.

I believe that Leto II’s consciousness somehow assisted the sand trout to adapt, as now they had a certain intelligence they lacked before his merging, and later scattering in the sand trout.

Leto II after entering symbiosis with the sand trout was long lived and prescient, not immortal and omniscient.

We have to do whatever it takes to protect these creatures

I learned from this video, but I would have liked it better if it had distinguished the lore of Frank Herbert's canon from the lore of his son.

You stated Leto II. transformed into an omniPOTENT being. I'd argue against that. He maybe was onniSCIENT but even that might be doubted as he didn't seem to see all possible futures and didn't know of Hwi Nore.
His might originates in the engineered believe in him, not in his ability to magically change the universe.

The key here is silica based life form. It could have been from a world, even near by, that was not recognized for life. They may have only reached their potential on a carbon based environment.

What about the Aquatic Sandworms that produced "Super Spice"?

Isn't it possible that the worms sponteneously evolved instead of being brought there?

I wish they had kept the original mouth parts of the sand worms. This new mouth parts just reminds me of a lamprey/hagfish.

So, did these worms on the other planets which were subsequently terraformed into desert produce spice? So now technically there would be multiple planets producing the most coveted substance in the universe?

But I thought they made it to Earth admittedly a variant ….Tremors lol.

They were on chapter house. Once the had released sand trout.

It's incorrect to say that all experiments to transplant them failed. Sandworms were successfully transplanted to Chapterhouse. The whole story ends with this fact, and a sandworm also onboard a noship destined to transplant one again.

Not sure why one would repeat this Brian Herbert / Kevin Anderson fanfic "Muadru" crap as canon, without actually having read the _actual_ series.

But… these aren’t movie facts. These are Brian Herbert’s fan fiction.
