Its a shame because Kashiko actually has an interesting back story since she actually is mixed and blends in with the tan fashion culture

For those who want to know why they became bullies

Musume 💙 She was never given a reason to be kind, her father spoiled her and never taught her any respect.
Kashiko 💜 Bullied for her skin color as a mixed girl, she adopted the Gyaru or Ganguro style to disguise her skin as a tan, which inspired the bullies to also adopt the style. She likes spreading drama and gossip so she joined the bullies.
Kokoro 💖 Was severely bullied in her last school, to avoid this repeating, she joined the bullies.
Hana 🧡 Has a inferiority complex due to her past experiences and looks down on others to feel better about her and her features. Joined the bullies to learn how to become less introverted and be the person she wants to be, though, she would’ve been much better off finding a better group that could help her do these same things without harming others.
Hoshiko 💚 She’s just plain evil and would suggest cruel punishments for their victims, much of which she was talked out of by the bullies. Joined the bullies to be with people she could be herself with and be around.

Most of them actually would be better people if they didn't had unfortunate events in their lifes.
Mutsumi's (musume) mom died, so her dad spoiled her.
Kokoro's backstory is probably the most popular. She got bullied so when she entered to Akademi, joined the bullies for avoiding being a target again.
Hana has a inferiority complex in every aspect, is very insecure in everything.
Kashiko is insecure because she's mixed-race, back in elementary school was bullied for her skin colour, so she uses the gyaru style for disguising her mixed heritage.
And Hoshiko...is just evil. Doesn't have a reason to be cruel, she's just like that.

okay i'm no longer a fan of ys but the bully designs do slap (even though gal fashion has nothing to do with being a bully and is actually more like an alt subculture because the beauty standard in japan has typically been pale with darker hair)

And Musume is the leader of them
Kokoro was the one who still got bullied by them
Kashiko also got bullied by her tan skin color
Hana also got bullied but idk what made her got bullied

tbh, the bullies we have in 2022 in my opinion represents todays teenagers, (social media, tanning, etc) and 1980’s mode represents how much teens changed over the years

If you don’t know back story of kashiko her mother was Japanese, but her father was of another race. Kashiko doesn't actually know what other race she is mixed with. Her father has never been a part of her life, and her mother doesn't have any details about her father's ancestry. Kashiko is ashamed of her mixed heritage, and has always done everything possible to keep her hair neat, tidy, and straight. As a child, she was often the only mixed-race student in her class, and was often bullied for the color of her skin. From middle school onwards, she adopted the gyaru style because it allowed her to disguise herself as a rebellious Japanese girl who tanned her skin for the sake of fashion, and avoid being identified as mixed-race. She acknowledges that pretending to be a gyaru girl might work only in a school setting, and definitely won't last forever. When she eventually parts ways with Musume, she will never return to "hiding" who she really is, and will embrace her poofy, fluffy hair. When it comes time for her to "shed" her gyaru "disguise", she wouldn't want to spend any time in a transitory state between gyaru and "mixed-race girl not hiding her identity". She would dye her hair back to black right away. She longs for the day she can just be her true self without having to hide anything. It's uncertain whether or not Kashiko will grow as a person and leave behind her bullying ways, or remain nasty throughout life. Out of all the bullies, however, she is the one girl who is most likely to wind up with Gema Taku, if the two of them are able to develop into better people.
