I've been thinking about this recently, so I appreciate the insight!

Thanks for making this! When I hear folks in the church wish each other good luck, I cringe!

Luck is a pagan concept. What is considered "luck" is actually divine providence.

First time I have heard something from Dr Brown that I don't agree with. I do think God allows chance to operate in life, in certain areas. I don't think whenever someone wins a raffle, either God or the devil has decided that and chosen to make that person the winner. God has foreknowledge and has permitted it, but that isn't the same thing.

Ecclesiastes 9:11. Doesn't it say luck or chance exists within a biblical framework right here?

I think it exists in the sense that things happen out of OUR control...roll ten dice at once see what comes up.

But as Brown said not in terms of God's all-knowing vision. Ain't nothin' that happens that surprises the Holy Trinity.

Even the hairs of your head are all numbered, is gods way of telling you that he has everything under control.

True, Michael, but I hope Christians do go around rebuking everyone who wishes them "Good luck." Someone wished me that a couple of hours ago, and I thanked him. He knows I love Jesus, he has heard the Gospel from me, and I don't want to just nitpick little things in his life. Jesus attracted sinners, so we can be sure he did not nitpick them to death. LOL

Ecclesiastices is the best literature on the concept. Very different than our Western concept, as all is hevel.

Do you as a christian wish anybody "good luck" Just saying because I say that to other people. Am I wrong to say that?

I beg to differ. How can it be God’s Providence for me to walk by a pretty girl and say she’s pretty. He does jot control what I say or believe, nor control where the girl walks. Or as a better example, how can a rock hit my head if it falls from a cliff. It was not God’s Providence but spontaneity/luck. I think it’s clear God Providence is not the only thing and that luck is a subset of His Providence along with Nature. God shows himself constantly throughout our lives, but he does not control us, nor nature. Hence, spontaneity/chance exists.

I read both creation accounts in Genesis and didn't find any such thing.

This topic makes me lose faith in God because. Despite believing all things are possible with God. I dont see any outcome even form believers that connotate something that any other man or themselves couldn't do accomplish, achieve or obtain with God in that connotation. Most things believers do align wirh the requirement of nature and society. And there is little activity beyond that, aside from salvation of course. I take God too literally and believe his words even more then the reliability of my parents etc. This had led me to disappointment and a belief that the very medium or threshold that determines the outcome of our faith is rooted in the flesh and the things of the flesh. Contained and restricted by the things of the flesh an enabled and enforced with those things.

One can ask. What entices faith?

Belief that what is hoped for is possible.

What entices those things?

I dont have an answer for that . Does anyone?

I cant see God as all loving a d all powerful if all this is his will? Again, if God is impartial, would you see your child to the 3rd world? Noo but we tell children of the 3rd world that God loves them while protecting our own form those conditions, self seeking our desired career choice, perfecting a hobby, saving for a home. And not denying ourself..

Talk about a mockery to those who suffer to know that the west is living and fighting for temporal freedom instead of becoming one body and ditching nationalism.

So can one say that God loves us more in the west, in the freedoms of our flesh? Of course as elaborated above.

Who is making God the liar? The suffering of the Christians that reject denying themselves becuase God the enlightenment or temporal opportunities to personalize their life down to the colour??

I've often said to myself, God could have loved me if (insert favorable situation)

Self growth achievement success materialism wordly ambitions, the American dream, other selfish justificationsand personalization of the flesh, is not a Christian idea.

In fact most who suffer in the world resemble the life of the apostles. Not the western Christian nations.

luck does exist? If not God would be cruel by nature. I am lucky I was born into the western world. I was unlucky to be born of mixed race when most people in the world have racial favoritism like yourself Dr. Brown, even towards Jews who hate Jesus!!! simply because of flesh ties.

My friend jared from Kenya is unlucky to be born where he lives and believes in christ just like you and I yet faces tenfold persecutions, tenfold less opportunities and restricted from having some grip over the outcomes of his life.

You and I naturally pity people in those situations. We would preach to them that God so loved the world, and that they are saved, they are blessed, God loves them, yet we would die to prevent your kids from ending up there.

If we would die to prevent our kids from ending up in a terrible place is it wrong to say that God loves people there? Or is God only good in the western world? As much as that may be wrong, our day to day activities in our life prove otherwise.

So do we blame God? The answer is shut up in the bible, and leads to a contrdiction that I myself am too humble to defend with understanding.

He will have mercy on who he has mercy on

But also says God is impartial. One must fit into the other

Is God only impartial to those who he has mercy on?

SO if its not Gods fault, that he decides to put certain souls that has certain outcomes because of certain flesh, then who decides that? the wind? or luck
