I am a bit confused about the function and the graph. The function for i has negative alpha as exponent so I therefore assume that is in the case when w0 = alpha, the discriminant is zero and therefor S = negative alpha which is a case of critical damping. However the graph shows the situation of underdamping?

why where you able to just multiply the equation by a factor of 2 but only like have of it. why did the 4-(1)(1/LC) not get effected?

Wouldn't it be 2/LC under the sq root sign?
