Still have my 1979 Honda CBX that I bought new in 1983 for $2800 OTD, even have the original PDI sheet from the Honda dealer! My CBX is now turbocharged and is a beast some 44 years later. It will go to my grave with me.

during the 70s I had the pleasure to own a Z650 and a Z1300 and thank God everyday I am still alive....
also drove a CB550 and a 750...But Kawa was always my favorite bike... If I had money.. would have bought all of these....

All the bikes were great! Loved seeing the 750 H2s! Mine was bored .040 over, ported, Denco chambers, K&Ns, clip-ons, could not keep the front end on the ground, crossed up out of the corners, no problem, so light and flickable. More fun than anything I've ever experienced. Lucky to be alive.

As a 62 yr old, 40 years of riding, I am thrilled beyond all of the bikes I've owned, with my '23 z900rs café. And not that I care, but people stop me all the time to admire and talk about it. It's like, "ok, well I gotta get going, but thanks!" lol

My brother had the same one in the 70’s, a real fun bike to ride, he didn’t touch it for over 8-10 yrs, it sat in our fathers shed, he went to move it a year back and pulled it out and it started on the second kick, ran like new !!

I was at that auction, selling off much of my father’s collection. There were a ton of CBX’s in the auction (one was ours) and a ton of Kawasaki H1 & H2’s. It’s hard to get a good price when there are a dozen more of the same model coming up. There aren’t that many people at the auction who MUST have a certain bike and are willing to drive up the bid when there are a bunch more coming u in the next day or two.

I've owned four 1981 CBX's in a row. #1 was a demo in 1982 and put 24k miles on it. #2 I bought new and put 75K miles on it before it got hit while parked. #3 is derelict now but has 138k miles and ran when parked. Currently #4 has 105k miles on it with virtually no maintenance done. Oil, filter, rotors, chain and sprockets and one turn signal bulb. Valves were looked at with 40k on it, carbs are untouched and spark plugs I replaced after 60k miles). It's a Honda.

I took a motorcycle mechanics class in high school in 88 and 89 and Honda had donated something like 6 or 8 of the CBX and 2 of the CX 650 turbos to the school because they did not sell well. I know tech schools across the country got them. I would say the CX turbo was far more ahead of it's time than the CBX but both were cutting edge.
