Despite the widespread of 3D-printer and other digital fabrication tools, hardware still requires many un-digitalized manual processes. For example, to fit a HACKberry (open-source 3D-printable bionic arm) to an individual amputee, the arm part has to be manually customized because each person has different size and shape. In the presentation, I will share how I currently see is the realistic balance of digital and manual processes.
