Dolly Parton Drops her Guitar (2007)

On 5 December 2007, Queen of Country and Western music Dolly Parton dropped her guitar while performing for an audience in Rotherham (yes, Rotherham!), England. The prolific singer-songwriter was in the South Yorkshire town to open the first UK branch of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, a book gifting programme aimed at ensuring access to reading materials for children of pre-school ages. Parton was thrown for a moment when her guitar strap came loose and the instrument crashed to the stage floor. But with the help of a roadie and her own folksy charm, she put the audience at ease and was soon enough ready to play.

A titan of the country and western world, Dolly Parton is to make her first foray into the rock genre in November 2023 with the release of 'Rockstar'. A collaborative work, the album will reportedly feature some of the biggest names in rock music including Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Sting, John Fogerty, Steven Tyler, Stevie Nicks, Mick Fleetwood, and Miley Cyrus.
