Olivia and Nathan here!
We took the 2.5 hour train ride from Budapest to Bratislava. To be honest, we almost skipped Slovakia completely, but we decided to check out for 24 hours. A lot of fellow travelers staying in Vienna or Budapest asked us, is it worth visiting?

Bratislava is wonderful! My cousin lived there so I've spent alot of time there. Great food, museums (got a tour from a Couchsurfing member I met up with), shopping and scenery. Day trip to BP easy as pie.

Where did you get the number of visitors in Budapest???? :D :D :D 30 million??? Are you serious? The most visited european city Paris had 17, 5 million visitors in 2017 and the most visited city of the world was Bangkok with 20 million in Can you imagine Budapest with 30 million? The real numbers of central european cities in 2017 were: Prague 6, 55 million, Budapest 5, 65 million, Vienna 5, 55 million and Bratislava 1, 1 Bratislava is the smallest of all these cities with population of 500 000....

came from USA and have now lived in Bratislava since 2014 and it is now my home and I still can't eat Bryndza cheese but usually those restaurants in the center don't have the real deal stuff that you get from the little stands in the villages.

The traditional Slovak cuisine is made for people who work in the field all day long. You need the energy there.

You two are so funny! The way Olivia sang "O Slovakia!" at 1:29 like it was the "O Canada!" national anthem cracked me up because I live in Canada! Your videos always make me chuckle a lot and put me in a good mood. Thank you! 😃

I'm so happy that you visited Slovakia... for me Bratislava city is ordinary, bcs I live here all my life, and never lived elsewhere... as for Slovak food, I cook and eat it everyday, and yes, lot of Slovak food are made of cheese or at liest milk.... my husband is Slovak, but intolerant to lactose.. so you can imagine, how hard it is to customise Slovak food taste, to taste the same as there is milk/cheese in the food, but there is none.. :D

Food is heavy because our country is all hills and it have only some plains but it's like small amount of them in our history there wasn't too many options on how to get energy for whole day working on field and most common animal was like sheep or goat, so that's mostly why we have such an heavy food.

those heavy foods with cheese people eat them because in past people in the north region used to have sheeps and they needed a lot of fat food because of winter and hard work on the fields, please before you eat fried cheese you have to put in in the mayonese and then take a bite :D :D

All hail the fried cheese plank! Last time I saw a piece of cheese that big was at a truck stop in Demopolis Ala. Served by a one eyed waitress named Stella. Well I see that you came through your trial by fat not so worse for wear. Youth will do that for you - smooth out the indiscretions of life it does. You two do such a fine job of presenting the not-so-familar corners of Europe I just cannot wait for the next installment.
