Seems like the glove box would work just as well for storing money and keys.

I think the point of this is when someone breaks into your car and is looking for valuables you could have stored in the glove box of center console maybe even the back of the sets. Things like the cup holder would generally be glossed over since the more time you spend in the car the more likely you are to be caught.
