SSA 2022: Frontiers in Seismology
Показать описание
New advances in seismological techniques and instrumentation provide opportunities to better understand earthquakes, map seismicity and refine models of the inner structure of planetary bodies. These approaches also present challenges: how to optimize instrumentation and deal with big data. This plenary will explore the science enabled by three emerging frontiers: distributed acoustic sensing technology, high performance computing and seismic instrumentation deployed to neighboring planets. Panelists: Alice-Agnes Gabriel (University of Munich), Simon Stähler (ETH Zürich), Zhongwen Zhan (Caltech). Moderated by William Ellsworth, Stanford University. Recorded Friday, 22 April 2022 at the Seismological Society of America's 2022 Annual Meeting.
